As Memorial Day approaches, we’re reminded of the incredible courage and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, and why it’s so important to support them not just once a year, but all year long.
At ACS, service is more than a value—it’s a mindset. From installing flooring in veteran homes to partnering with organizations that serve military families, we are proud to play a small role in something much bigger. And through our long-standing relationship with The Home Depot Foundation, we’ve been honored to say “yes” to dozens of meaningful initiatives over the years.
Most recently, that call came from HD Store 0901 in Hackensack, NJ.
The ask? Help renovate a church that hosts regular veteran meetings and community outreach programs.
The response? A resounding yes, as always.
Our teammate Aidan led the charge by conducting an initial site check, coordinating logistics, and ensuring a seamless LVP installation that transformed the space without a single hiccup. The project wrapped on May 2nd, and the new flooring now anchors a place of connection, healing, and community support.
“From start to finish, Aidan made it happen. It wasn’t just about installing floors—it was about honoring the people this space serves.” ~ COS Chris, Store 0901
This project is just one example of how service at ACS doesn’t stop at the job site. It shows up wherever it’s needed most.
Whether it’s through boots-on-the-ground volunteering or behind-the-scenes sponsorships, ACS has shown up time and again for our veteran communities.
Here are just a few more recent examples of that commitment in action:
San Antonio, TX: ACS leadership team members Dave Scalfani, Forrest Lamm, and Ed Camp joined forces with The Home Depot Foundation and Haven for Hope, helping furnish beds for 114 individuals (many of them veterans) who hadn’t slept in a real bed in over 14 years. The event raised over $13 million for homeless veterans and underserved communities.
Lemont, IL: ACS proudly served as a $10,000 sponsor for the Golfing for Heroes tournament—an annual fundraiser benefitting veteran initiatives via The Home Depot Foundation. The event surpassed its $160,000 goal, helping expand critical veteran support services nationwide.
Fort Lauderdale, FL: As a platinum sponsor of a major volunteer event at Archways (a nonprofit serving veterans and individuals in need) ACS joined 600+ volunteers to build picnic tables, install ceiling tiles, paint, landscape, and uplift a facility that provides behavioral health care to our veteran community.
Clifton, NJ: When asked to help renovate a group home for injured veterans, ACS said yes immediately. Our team donated labor and worked alongside THD partners to rip up old floors, paint, and install new VCT and carpet. The installers, Franco and Javier, had personal ties to the military, making the work deeply meaningful.
These aren’t just projects. They’re acts of appreciation, partnership, and purpose.
Beyond our external efforts, ACS is proud to count veterans among our team members and subcontractor network. Their leadership, discipline, and service-first mentality inspire our culture and elevate our work every day.
Today, six veterans contribute their talents and experience to ACS operations, and we’re better for it. Whether on the job site or behind the scenes, their presence strengthens everything we do and reminds us daily what it means to serve with purpose
From programs like The Say YES Fund, which supports ACS team members and their families through hardship, to community-driven projects across our network, one thing is clear:
At ACS, service is not a campaign, it’s our culture.
It’s what drives us to respond when a local store calls for help.
It’s what guides our teams to treat every project like it matters (because it does).
It’s what inspires us to build, not just with tools, but with purpose.
So whether we’re lifting up a veteran, supporting a partner, or stepping in where others step back, we’ll keep showing up. Proudly. Quietly. Consistently.
Because that’s who we are.
